Day 01 - Sydney to London
Today I embark on a trip around the world. I'll be recording my thoughts and experiences here for anyone interested.
Changi airport is, as it is every time I visit, huge and full of charging stations. There's only 40 minutes til we reboard so I take a long walk while connecting to the free wifi. Also very glad I have brought two phones with me as it's easy to check messages on one while the other charges.
Then we are off again for the Long Night. This is the part of the flight I need to sleep for, and I manage to get a few weird naps in that will be enough to tide me over. I am feeling how long this one is though. I was hoping to do some writing, but I'm definitely not in the headspace for it unfortunately, so I pay 11 pounds to try out the plane wifi for a while and that turns out to be very entertaining. I'm able to send someone a video from the plane of the city lights from above, which is crazy on so many levels - it's crystal clear, yet shot 1) at night 2) from a plane 3) with a mobile phone 4) and then sent midair... technology is incredible.
One day I really have to fly over this part of the world (Syria, Iraq) during the day so I can see it. At least I will be seeing plenty of Europe out the window of all the trains I am catching.
